CPA Exam Q&A: Sharing the Importance of CPA Exam Coaching and How I Help Future CPAs Succeed

Why is CPA exam coaching so important to you?

CPA exam coaching is important to me because I realize there's a fear and hesitation. I understand the stress that comes along with deciding to take the CPA exam. I get the feelings of defeat and overwhelm questioning your whole career path and the emotional rollercoaster that candidates experience with this exam.

There was a NEED for this. Coincidentally, my passion for this work addresses and fulfills that need. What better way to prepare for the CPA exam than to learn and develop your skillset under the guidance of current CPAs who understand your struggle because they've been through it?

How did you start your CPA exam coaching program?

For something that wasn't on my goals list, wasn't REMOTELY a thought in my mind, to become the thing I feel like I was put on this Earth to do. And to that I say, there's beauty in thinking big.

"My whole coaching program was birthed out my big wild thoughts."

My whole coaching program was birthed out my big wild thoughts - that I would take and pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam in 6 months. Quickly realizing that there was a different journey in store for me, I did it anyway. And the things I learned about accounting and equally important the things I learned about myself - which was an unexpected gem out of this, those things made me look at this whole process differently.

Me thinking big is what created all of this. Even after I kept failing and losing credit, I wasn't going to quit. I couldn't put a DATE on when I'd get my license, but I knew I would. I loved it too much, I wanted it too bad, and I knew that the investment I made in myself was going to have the ROI that makes it all worth it.

What is one thing you think candidates overlook with the CPA exam?

The prestige of the CPA credential, the depth and breadth of expertise that we have, the obligation that we have as practitioners to protect the public interest - it shouldn't be a cakewalk. This a heavy crown to wear. At the same time, there needs to be a pathway for future CPAs to learn a different way. To get more hands-on experiences which will translate well to conceptual learning for many.

Why is FAR the most talked about section of the CPA exam?

Many candidates struggle with FAR, I actually didn't. FAR was the easiest exam section for me. Why? Because I hands-on experience in doing the work and learning the concepts that I was tested on. It made sense - I struggled the most with the audit section, because audit is not my favorite thing.

What do candidates get from your CPA Exam Coaching program?

My CPA exam coaching programs are offered virtually so CPA candidates can get help no matter where they are. Coaching options include course materials for the section you're studying for, instructor-led tutorials walking through simulations and MCQs, and real-life accounting scenarios to help candidates master the concepts. Most of the content is available on-demand to accommodate everybody's schedule but we do meet live for check-ins, Q&A, and group discussions. There's also opportunities to network with class attendees and build relationships with people who could be your colleagues or business associates.
